![]() ![]() If weather is bad, many ladies wear heavier shoes to the Operat, change to regular shoes after entering and check a bag with the heavy shoes as they check their coat.Īlso come early, enjoy walking through the Opera House, stop and have a drink in one of the nice lounges. Please remember to check your coat - they are not permitted in the Opera Hall. This offers a superb view ( unless you are very small)- I know of some older, petite ladies who bring a cushion) and I have always found the sound very good - as in perhaps most all seats in the Opera. If one looks to need or have extra room for legs - look to the aisle seat #15 on each row side. The Wiener Staatsoper is one of the busiest opera houses in the world producing 50 to 60 operas in a repertory system per year and ten ballet productions. I always suggest to those visiting, perhaps for the only time, to consider a slightly higher price ticket in the Parkett rows 7-13 The Vienna State Opera is closely linked to the Vienna Philharmonic, which is an incorporated society of its own, but whose members are recruited from the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. In my opinion, the best 85 euro sear is found - Halbmitte Row #1 Some seats in the Galerie are ok - however those that experience bleeding noses due to high altitudes should avoid this area. Many second row seats in the boxes do not have good views at all with the exception of those toward the center. ![]() ![]() ITo me the boxes ( logen) are not the best place to sit- definitely not in the second row of any box. The sound seems to project upwards.Īnyway, there's a biassed viewpoint to consider! ![]() I couldn't hear the singers properly above the orchestra and had better hearing sitting in the balcony or boxes. I splashed out once to sit on the rear of the ground floor (parkett) and i was surprised that the acoustic wasn't that great. The lower the box the better, of course, but the higher ones are still pretty good if centrally located. I sat in the third row of box 12 for a performance and had a very good view and hearing for only 44 euros. The best boxes, btw, are the ones closest to the centre of the house - these are the higher numbers so box 11, 12 or 13. So I like sitting in the 2nd or even third row of the boxes and I think that will be my preferred choice in future. A stay in Vienna wouldnt be complete without a visit to the Vienna State Opera, one of the worlds leading opera houses. The 2nd and third rows in the boxes have chairs on higher legs (with a footrest) so you are raised above the first row which helps for viewing). These have actual chairs you can shift about to suit and they are very comfy. Increasingly to save my old-lady knees I've been sitting in the boxes. Preyergasse bus stop is at a distance of approximately 10 minutes by foot from Apartmenthaus Hietzing I Contactless Check-In. The front rows are your best choice in those areas for that reason. The delightful Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna is 5 minutes' drive away, and Wien Speising is situated at a short distance from this family accommodation. Even my 5'6" medium-sized pal found that uncomfortable when we went to a ballet in the third row of the balcony. The rows behind the first row in the gallery and balcony are quite cramped - and often I have ended up with my knee mashed against an iron bar ow ow ow. However, being tall (nearly six foot) and porky I find generally that the Staatsoper is not the most comfortable venue. I usually go for the 85 euro price bracket and I've found the front row of the gallery (galerie mitte) or the front row of the balcony (balkon halb-mitte ) give very good view and hearing for that price (gallery being top floor, you understand, and balcony the next level down).
